This is the first year where all of my girls are in school full
time and with that there are a lot of lunches that need to be made every week. For those parents who only have to be relevant
with one lunch, you have it easy. Try making 4 little girls happy all at once. With experience comes success and acceptance.
I have found that if I allow them to have a say in what we are making on any given day, they are more receptive to my ideas
and recommendations.I always start with fruit: apples,
grapes, bananas or strawberries. My youngest will eat anything you put in front of her. She is the easiest of the four.
Once the fruit is in the bags, we move onto the main course which usually means a sandwich consisting of Dempster's white
bread, it is always fresh and contains 13 essential nutrients, and 180 calories per serving. Combine that with a selection
of Maple Leaf Natural Selections cold cuts. The favourite of all four girls is the Turkey, which contains natural ingredients
such as water, sea salt, vinegar, lemon juice, potato starch, and of course turkey. We struggle to keep this in the refrigerator,
as dad and I like it too. A healthy choice for the whole family to enjoy.
Once these are added to the lunch bags we finish off with their choice of beverage, which can range from chocolate
milk, white milk, fruit juice, or bottled water. With the school offering a balanced nutritional break system, it means we
must have enough food and beverages for two different meals.
My
one daughter is open too trying anything at least once, as long as she thinks there is corn in it. I'm not sure that she
knows that there is no corn in turkey sandwiches. As long as she continues to eat all her lunch, I'm not going to rock that
boat.
