How Does Klout Affect You

What is Klout and Does it Matter

Klout measures your on-line presence,  social media reach and influence on certain topics. There are many measurement tools that are available to measure your network influence and how you engage your audience (followers). One in particular is Radian6.com, this program is expensive but effective. Commonly used by PR/ Social Media Agencies.

Here how is works - Klout connects your Twitter, Personal Facebook, FourSquare and Linkedin and calculates analytics from the engagement.

From Klout.com

"The Klout Score is the measurement of your overall online influence. The scores range from 1 to 100 with higher scores representing a wider and stronger sphere of influence. Klout uses over 35 variables on Facebook and Twitter to measure True Reach, Amplification Probability, and Network Score."

Klout has also implemented + K. Apparently I am influential on parking? Must be all those times I complain about parking downtown Toronto.

My Klout score:

At a business meeting the other day, the topic of Klout came up and I found out my friend Danny Brown is influential about Sheep. Yes, you heard that right, Sheep. Apparently Klout found him to be an expert on this particular subject. Watch his interview

A few weeks back, I asked WonderMoms_ca followers what Klout meant to them and received surprising results and have a few great quotes. The first one is from Kevin Magee, the author of  "The Tweetstock Guide to Twitter".

Well now I am confused. Is Klout about sheep and Pac Man, certainly not?  Just poking a little Twitter humor. Klout can help people measure their personal online influence, help you engage and grow. They have klout badges that you can embed on your blog or website. They also have Klout perks, we do know a Twitter friend that was flown to San Francisco, we blogged about it here.  That is huge ROI.

My last and final thought, can we go into a Social Media frenzy? There is Facebook, Google +, Twitter, FourSquare, Tumblr, Klout, LinkedIn and many more I have not added. I think at times we need to unplug and renew our minds.

I am personally never worried about my Klout, as engagement happens off line as well and no one can measure that except for me. I am not graded for the hundred's of hours I put into WonderMoms.ca. My children do not score me on my performance as a Mom...not that I know of yet. If your Klout drops do not worry about it, as we will still love you in the morning.
