Breakfast is the most important meal of the day

Breakfast is the most important meal of the day. That is something that has been drilled into us since childhood. I for one, struggle with time in the morning in getting the 4 girls off to school. However, when I finally settle-in in front of my computer to start my work day, I am forever looking for something new to inspire me.

We just received a package from Kashi, the healthy choice in breakfast foods. They are celebrating 30 years of healthy living this year and are committed to bringing Canadians a wide variety of positive choices to start your day. Their new products are certainly in keeping with their mantra of providing you with progressive nutrition in great tasting foods.

Kashi is introducing a new selection of gluten-free, certified organic and Non-GMO Project Verified cereals designed to make you enjoy breakfast again. Having an opportunity to try them first-hand, I must say, they are quite tasty. My favourite is the Kashi Organic Promise Indigo Morning cereal which combines puffed golden corn flakes with real blueberries and blackberries resulting in a very tangy sweet flavour. Great with milk or without.

Other options are the Kashi Organic Promise Simply Maize cereal featuring whole organic corn for hearty, crisp flakes and a touch of molasses for just the right level of sweetness. Kashi is very aware of food trends and design their foods around what is big in the marketplace today.

Chia seeds are leading the way as one of the hottest food trends of 2014. Packed with lots of protein, fibre and Omega-3s. A small, yet mighty superfood providing big nutritional value in a tiny package. They have developed a series of new cereal bars for those on-the-go. Kashi Chia Cranberry Lemon and Kashi Dark Chocolate, Almond and Sea Salt. And, with 0.2g of Omega-3 and 4g of fibre per 35g bar, they are both nourishing and delicious.

Again, I have chosen a favourite, the Cranberry Lemon I could eat all day long. The fact that my kids like them is an added bonus.

I would urge anyone looking for nutritious and delicious food choices, be it for breakfast or snacks to try them. You won't be disappointed with the taste or the benefits it provides you with.
